"I have tried many different diets, losing weight then putting more on once they finished. With Chris' weight loss program with an absolute minimal lifestyle change I have lost 10lb in just 5 weeks. I fit into my favourite jeans and am looking forward to getting down to my ideal weight in time for my summer holidays."- MRS BUSH, ROCHDALE -
"I didn't think it could be done! I visited Chris for one 'quit smoking session', a year down the line and I have not as much as looked at a cigarette. The money I'm saving through not smoking is fantastic, but more importantly this is the healthiest I have ever felt in as long as I can remember. "- MR VIJAY, MANCHESTER -
"In my first session all we did was to go through a basic relaxation technique to start the phobia breaking requirement I had. I have to say I was sceptical at first, but after even the first couple of minutes I just felt safe, sound and infinitely more relaxed."- MR MELLALIEU -
"Why was I so worried about hypnotherapy? It's possibly the most relaxing thing I have ever done and I would recommend it to everyone!"- MR WALKER -
I am a Loughborough University graduate and studied hypnotherapy firstly through the London College of Clinical Hypnosis (LCCH) at Kings College and latterly at the Liverpool Hope University. I am an avid sports fan who follows Liverpool FC (for my sins!), a fisherman and regular cinema goer.
Psychotherapist & Counsellor
I originally studied at the University of Florida, USA, but found my calling in helping people back in the UK and promptly enrolled at Salford University to undertake a masters degree in Psychotherapy & Counselling. I am also an artist and love to paint, draw and sketch in various mediums in any free time I get.
Head of Security
Our little Chihuahua, Prince, is the king of all dogs and 'everyone' loves him!! We live central to Manchester and can barely make our way up a busy street as people stop to pet him. He is a certainly a character and if you get to meet him, you're sure to be charmed by him too.
*Refer a Friend
We are positive you will enjoy the services we offer, so much so, we know you will be eager for your friends and family to benefit from our expertise too.
All you need do, is refer a friend to us and if they become a paid up new customer, we will give you 10 pounds.
It's literally as simple as that. The more people you refer the more you earn.
HERE ARE A FEW FUN FACTS ABOUT THE WORK WE HAVE DONE OVER THE YEARS THAT HAVE MADE US INTO ONE OF THE LEADING TRUSTED THERAPEUTIC CENTRES IN MANCHESTER.
When a prospective client(s) contacts us, we can generally know quickly if we can help them after a quick telephone conversation. Unlike other businesses in this field we'll invite you to the practice for a free in depth consultation and if we feel we can't help with your needs, we will refer you on to a more appropriate professional, or body.
In short, there are too many people in this field of work who are just in it purely for monetary gain. As such we will give you a full, free in-depth consultation and will not take a penny off you if we feel we cannot help you. It's as simple as that, because if it doesn't benefit you, it doesn't benefit us in the long run as most of our business comes through word-of-mouth.
Only when we believe our skillset can match your needs will we actually start therapeutic sessions. These will vary in time and will focus on your specific individual requirements. We are highly trained and endeavour to make your precious time with us productive, enjoyable but most of all beneficial.
We want to help you every step of the way. So to distinguish ourselves from our peers, we also offer a follow up service to ensure the good work we have done in the therapy setting will continue on into the future. We are more than happy to offer ongoing ideas and possible solutions to aid the needs of our clients going forward.
This is a little video to showcase our work and obviously entice you in to working with us. There are few practioners out there who can match our level of technical expertise and attention to detail. As such we believe that this video, shows that we embrace every facet of business, because everything matters to us in order for us to provide excellence. We take care of everything from the smallest to the biggest details and that is why you will be happy to have chosen us to partner with.
IN LIFE YOU GET WHAT YOU PAY FOR. OUR PRICES REFLECT THE QUALITY, THE CARE AND MANY SERVICES WE OFFER AS ONE OF THE LEADING LIGHTS IN THERAPY WITHIN THE NORTH WEST OF ENGLAND. AGAIN WE LIKE TO BE TOTALLY CLEAR AND TRANSPARENT WITH OUR PROSPECTIVE CLIENTS IN 'EVERYTHING' WE DO.
OUR WORK COMPLIES WITH THE FOLLOWING LIST OF PROFESSIONAL BODIES THAT ALL WORK TOWARDS A BETTER STANDARD OF THERAPEUTIC PRACTICE. WE ADVISE YOU NOT TO GO WITH ANY THERAPISTS THAT CANNOT PROVE THEY ARE MEMBERS OF AT LEAST THE MAJORITY OF ASSOCIATIONS LISTED BELOW.
I believe that a therapist should be educated in all treatment approaches and use as many as needed to address each client's concern. Each of my treatments are 'custom designed' for each client to reflect the individuality of the person and their presenting problem, which is why I experience the success I do. Although the following is not an exhaustive list, it does represent a few of the areas I believe I can really look to help you in.
As a BACP registered worker I specialise in a Person Centred Approach though I also have experience in the field of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy. We believe in personalized care based on an individual and a couples, strengths, needs and concerns. I aim to address your current relationship challenges and long-standing conflicts with support, practical feedback, structured exercises and research validated interventions.
WHAT IS HYPNOTHERAPY?
Hypnotherapy is a skilled verbal communication, used during hypnosis, which helps direct a clients imagination in such a way as to bring about intended alterations in sensations, perceptions, feelings, thoughts and behaviour. In a typical hypnotherapy session, the hypnotherapist will ask the client questions about previous medical history, general health and lifestyle. The hypnotherapist and client will decide together on the changes or goals that are desired.
Hypnotherapy can be applied to a wide range of medical, dental and psychological problems. Areas of application include anxiety and stress conditions, weight control, addictive behaviours (including smoking, alcohol and substance misuse) and confidence issues. Hypnotherapy is also used to enhance performance in several areas such as sport and public speaking.
HOW MANY SESSIONS OF HYPNOTHERAPY WILL I NEED?
This will depend upon your individual circumstances. This is something that we will discuss with you when you first meet us. There as with most therapists we will agree a set number of sessions with you which we will review with you as we go on. Depending on the issues you want to address hypnotherapy can often be a relatively short process.
HOW LONG IS A SESSION?
An individual session will usually take 50 to 60 minutes and as your therapist I will make this clear to you at your first meeting. In some cases a session can take longer, but we will discuss this with you in advance.
WHAT HAPPENS IF I FALL ASLEEP, OR DON'T WAKE UP?
The state of relaxation that you enter is not the same as sleeping, but some people do fall asleep and this is nothing to worry about. You will be in a secure environment and are aware of this possibility. We will also explain about the methods we will use pre-hand to ensure you are fully aware and ready to get on with your usual activities after the session.
I AM WORRIED THAT I WILL DO, OR SAY SOMETHING STUPID?
When you meet with either one of us for the first time please do tell us about any concerns that you may have and we will reassure you. Unfortunately, the only thing that many people know about hypnosis is what they have seen of so called stage hypnosis, where people may indeed be encouraged to do silly things for the entertainment of an audience. Hypnotherapy is nothing like this at all. We are ethical practitioners and everything that happens during your therapy is completely confidential.
WILL YOU AS MY THERAPIST RESPECT ME AND MY INDVIDUAL NEEDS?
We always treat you as a unique individual and we will certainly be aware of and respect diversity around issues of age, gender, sexual identity, disability and/or race.
IS THERE AN AGE LIMIT?
Anyone over the age of 18 years can choose to see a therapist. If you are a minor you may need the permission of a parent or guardian and you should talk to your therapist about this. If you are a parent, or guardian seeking a hypnotherapist for a child or young person, it is best to talk to us directly. There is no upper age limit.
HOW DO I KNOW MY THERAPY IS ETHICAL?
As I am a National Hypnotherapy Society member you have the security of knowing that I have been verified by the Society. This means that my qualifications, training and experience has been checked, we have insurance, and are governed by the Societys Code of Ethics. Please do check should you choose another therapist they are equally well regulated by a sound authority and at the very least you have been recommended them directly by a close friend, or associate. Be aware there are many charlatans in this field who aren't professinally trained, don't follow a code of conduct and are financially - not ethically minded.
WHAT IF I CAN'T AFFORD TO PAY?
We work on a self-employed basis and must charge for the services we offer due to our high overhead city based costs. It may be worth asking you GP, or enquire about local charities to you that offer low cost/free hypnotherapy and/or counselling. It is also worth mentioning many firms have funds accessible for therapy, as well as certain insurances will pay for the therapy in full as part of the packaged service they offer. As we have mentioned we do like to give something back which is why we offer a discount for those of certain professional backgrounds, low incomes, and disabilities. Either way, do contact us and we will help you the best we can.
WHAT IS COUNSELLING?
Counselling is a type of talking therapy that allows a person to talk about their problems and feelings in a confidential and dependable environment. As trained practitioners, we work with people over a short, or longer term, to help our clients bring about effective change, or enhance their wellbeing.
WHAT IS PSYCHOTHERAPY?
Psychotherapy aims to help you gain a better understanding of the issues that are troubling you. It can help you work out new ways of approaching situations that you find difficult, as well as suggesting new methods to help you cope. Developing a trusting relationship with your psychotherapist is very important, and will help you to talk about long-standing problems. However, developing trust can take time. Depending on the disorder and the style of psychotherapy, some treatment courses may need to last for several months or, in some cases, years.
WHY CHOOSE TO HAVE THERAPY?
People tend to come to us for therapy because they are experiencing difficulties and distress in their lives. Sometimes people can be isolated, but at other times, even where an individual has the most supportive family and friends, they can find it difficult if not impossible to explain why, for example, they may be feeling anxious and or depressed. Or it may be easier to talk about personal, family, or relationship issues with a person who is independent of friends and family. Other life issues and events which can be very difficult to deal with include bereavement, divorce, redundancy, health issues, bullying and so on. However, you do not have to be in crisis or on the verge of one, before choosing to have therapy. You may be experiencing underlying feelings of dissatisfaction with life in general, or be seeking balance in your life and spirituality. All of these reasons and more will bring individuals to therapy. Therapy is time set aside by you and the therapist to look at what has brought you to therapy. This might include talking about life events, (past and present), feelings, emotions, relationships, ways of thinking and patterns of behaviour. We will do our best to help you to look at your issues, and to identify the right course of action for you, either to help you resolve your difficulties or help you find ways of coping. Talking about these things may take time, and will not necessarily all be included in one session.
IS THERAPY GUARANTEED TO MAKE ME FEEL BETTER?
A therapist will never offer to cure you. During your initial consultation you will be able to talk about why you are seeking therapy and together we will decide on a course of treatment. We always refer you to your GP first for any medical issues.
ARE YOUR SERVICES CONFIDENTIAL?
Yes it is so important to us that you feel you can talk about things in complete confidence. We as your therapists will never talk about you with others – the only time we might breach confidentiality is if by keeping a confidence it could cause significant harm to you, your therapist or another person eg. if your life is at risk. We will explain about this when we first meet. As therapists, we have a supervisor and it is likely that we will talk about your case (without disclosing your identity). This is to ensure we offer you the best possible service, a similar process to a doctor discussing your medical notes with a specialist. But rest assured, your privacy and trust is of our utmost concern.
I AM TAKING PRESCRIBED MEDICATION - IS IT OK TO HAVE THERAPY AS WELL?
We will ask you about any pre-existing medical conditions that you may have and also if you are taking any prescribed medication. We may well ask you then to just check with your GP before you start hypnotherapy, or counselling.
HOW OFTEN WILL I SEE YOU FOR THERAPY?
This again is something that we will decide together. It may initially be once a week, but this is flexible for example you may meet once a week initially and then decide together that you want to meet more, or less frequently, depending on how you feel.
HOW MUCH WILL IT COST?
This is something that will be discussed with you at your first contact and you will usually be asked to pay for each session upon arrival at the practice. Our rates reflect that we are a centrally located, premium, therapeutic practice. We offer discretionary discounts only to those on a low income, service personnel, students etc who we believe deserve the best care, but may not necessarily be able to afford it currently.
WHAT IF I MISS A BOOKED SESSION?
If you cancel with less than 24 hrs notice the session fee is due in full. Please contact us as soon as possible to discuss re-booking your session. We are understanding however and will evaluate a missed session on merit, as sometimes life does just get in the way.
As you can see the website is nearly ready, but not quite. We are currently scouring the city to secure a permanent office space. Once we have tracked down suitable premises this will be posted here, along with simple instructions on how to find us.
